For boys too!!!

OK, everyone (well, everyone that thinks about it) has looked at, seen, or contemplated a princess style ring for their daughter when she turns 16 to remind her she's worth waiting for. (Yes, Hubby & I have discussed it, it's happening).

Well, my daughter is 4....but I have a boy that's 12, so he's my main concern in this department first. My first Google search for "promise ring boy" almost made me angry, as most of the results were especially feminine. Hello? I specified BOY!

Thankfully, my brain kicked in & I realized I wanted specifically something in reference to True Love Waits. I LOVE the verse that goes along with the idea.

1 Timothy 4:12 (NIV)  Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

So, now my results were MUCH more what I was looking for to give my son(s). (Yes, Bubby will have to hit this stage before the Baby Girl too.....scary!) These are MY three favorites, but I guess we'll see which he likes at that point. Right now, he's more of a bracelet kinda guy, so maybe that should be my next search!

Now, before anyone gets all bent out of shape. It's NOT just my religious beliefs that make me want to encourage my children to wait. I did not myself. I wouldn't have my oldest if I had, possibly none of them, as that is truly what "pushed" my marriage to happen. (We've beat just about every statistic out there...we're just cool).

But at the same time, and I'm sure I've indicated this before, I feel something is missing from my relationship due to not waiting. It won't break my marriage, not in the least. But not everyone is me & the hubby. Like I said, we're just cool! :-D But like any parent, I want more for my children than I have for myself. And I'll do all that I can to ensure that...without turning them into spoiled brats.

Dreaming

I am not quite out of the paycheck to paycheck stage of my life yet. I'm getting better at scrimping, saving, & putting away those pennies. One at a time. I've got a retirement plan going, even if my day to day savings are rather...sparse.

Some days though, if I had a fairy godmother, I think I'd go for just a couple of months of being adopted/sponsored/taken in by somebody who was WAY better off than I am financially speaking. To just enjoy anything my heart desires, even if it's silly. But just for a little bit.

I don't know that I'd want that much money for the rest of my life though. I think about it & I want to get to the point where the bills are paid with no juggling & stretching. A breakdown or blowout can happen & it's an inconvenience rather than a major catastrophe. And I can give to this charity or cause with impunity & not worry about if it's a tax write off, because I don't want to be THAT rich that I NEED to funnel funds, but I'd like to be well off enough that I live like I do now...without the hassles.

Am I dreaming, or just impatient? A little of both I believe. I'll get there. I might be my mom's age, but I'll get there. It won't happen overnight, or over the next 5 years. (Too many fixes needed on our house...and I have kids, so really!) But it'll happen!

There's a difference!!

OK, I know it's been asked before, but I REALLY want to know...what is the difference between spaghetti & pizza sauce?

Yes, they're both tomato based sauces, with similar seasonings. I know one is thicker. Food snobs usual answers on forums are condescending & useless as far as getting the answer.

So seriously...what's the difference between the sauce for

THIS:

  And THIS:

Cause if I hear one more person say it's the same...tell me, when you're eating THIS:

And you try it at home with canned spaghetti sauce...it's gross, isn't it? It's more than just being thinner. There's a seasoning difference. No debate on the difference between uncooked & pre-cooked sauces needed, I get it. I just want to know why I can buy a can of spaghetti sauce for $1 & have to pay the same amount, if not more, for a jar HALF THE SIZE, of pizza sauce...if it's the same?
